A Case Study on the Electronic Global Village

Preface

This contents of this paper could really be the subject of another paper (a meta paper perhaps?) as it was produced using the resources that it describes. Most of the early drafts and notes were placed on the conference for comment and criticism by the conference members. There was also a considerable amount of electronic mail floating back and forth between myself and many of the users:

Neale, I loved your NOTE VMSHIST.  I don't think it's all THAT incoherent!
I would like to point out that "attest" has three t's; you've got 'atest'
in there somewhere.  And there's one instance of "there" that should be
"their", somewhere near the beginning.
 
Just didn't want anyone to miss the forest by stumbling over the twigs!
