Miscellaneous VM/CMS Software Packages
If you pick up any of this, I'd like to know.
There's no charge, but please send me a note so that I'll know
who has it, especially if you're actually using it. Thanks!
-
WEBCAT

To "deblock" a VMARC file, enter a command like:
PIPE < in_fileid | FBLOCK 80 00 | > out_fileid F 80
To "deblock" a blocked MODULE, enter a command like:
PIPE < in_fileid | DEBLOCK CMS | > out_fileid
CMS TAR files need no "deblocking".
If you need a blocked VMARC MODULE,
with which you can unpack properly restructured VMARCs
(archives), get it from here or from
http://ua1vm.ua.edu/~troth/software/vmarc.modcms
and "deblock it" using DEBLOCK CMS as illustrated above.
The name "rickvmsw" is an pun.
There was a sub-menu on Rice's VM gopher server called "ricevmsw".
The packages listed above represent pretty much the same suite of
applications, but they have no dependency on, or obligation to,
Rice University.
The following things are not my code. (nor is VMARC)
They're wonderful, but I can't take any credit for them.
The mainframe is such an obvious choice for a Mail drop
because it is secure, available all the time, is backed up,
protected by UPS, has enormous I/O capacity ... I could go on and on.
